It's done now except for the chicken ramp that will come out of the coop to the ground. For now the chickens are staying inside the coop - I want to give them a few days to adjust to their new home, it's much bigger than what they had before. So in a few days I'll start bringing them outside to try out the run area. 
I like how the coop turned out. The chicks are pretty huddled together in this picture, that's pretty much how they spent the first night, today they are spreading out a little more.

She decided not to find out the gender - an idea I kind of like. Yes it will be more difficult to pick out the colors of things, but there's no rule that says you can't pick out the items that you want to be a particular color after the baby is born. I like it that it is going to be a suprise for her. Seems like anything to make your labor something that you are actually looking forward to would be good. So anyway, I decided to go with another guitar onesie, she and her husband are both musicians. I had thought I'd put the five stitched "guitar strings" on this one, but when I got to that point I decided I like it better the way it is, simple, so the strings were skipped this time. The print of the fabric is a little "flowerish", but the colors are not overly girlie, so I think it will work whether she has a boy or girl.
Besides, I think baby boys can get away with a ton more than they can when they get older. Have you ever seen the old fashioned pictures of baby boys in christening gowns? Those gowns were as lacy as can be and they'd put a lacy bonnet on the little guy to top it all off. Looking overly "masculine" isn't as important for babies. I also went with the little chick/duck/birdie because I like how it turned out in the orange print (by the way, that is an Amy Butler pattern - I have it in green and blue as well, love all of them.)
I am going to set aside time in the next week to research local farmer's markets and art fairs for the summer. My soft goal would be to sell my things at least twice a month this summer. I feel like I'm just putting my toe into the water so-to-speak, maybe that's being to safe. But selling things that involved my creativity is scary - it's like putting yourself on display and asking people if they think you're worth something. Each time I put together a gift I gain a little more confidence. Besides, it's nice to not spend much money but still be able to give (what I consider) a nice gift.

My hydrangea is doing nicely - I'm glad to see this because before this one I squelched out two others by planting them in bad spots. This one seems hapy though.
Bambino is just starting to pay any attention to the chicks...he pretty much doesn't care that they are around, as long as he still gets enough attention.
I told you they were getting big! Look at the cute tail feather, it may be the cutest part of all!

I started a few more seeds inside the greenhouse and outside as well. I planted three rows of corn - getting drenched in the rain in the process. 
Both pets hung out with me outside, they were drenched too - by the time we came inside we were all ready to dry off and be cozy. They both looked like drowed rats and ended up napping. 
But being outside was a relaxing time, the garden has a calming affect on me, it helps with that whole simple, peaceful feeling!
I haven't lived in the Pacific Northwest long enough to really have a firm idea of what the seasons are typically like. So when our rainy, wind storm 45 degree weather makes other people around me (esp. those who've lived here a long time) say that it seems like fall outside I have to just listen and agree by default. 
I do know that today I have been wanting to drink something warm. For dinner I made a nice spaghetti, filled with fresh herbs, and yummy garlic bread...kind of heavy on the garlic, the husband and I will probably pay for that tomorrow when we step out into public!
So the pictures in today's post are the projects I worked on in my sewing room today. I have a dear old friend on the east coast who is pregnant with her first son...she has two little girls already. So I embellished a onesie for her baby to be with a guitar applique - I sent the white one and set aside the beige one in my "to sell" stash. Her little girls are getting the other two shirts. The long sleeved black shirt is only shown pinned, I forgot to snap a picture of it finished. I stiched green "stems" on each of the tulips...pretty cute when it was done. I never celebrated either of her two girls when they were babies, this is bad I realize, so hopefully I've made up for it, even if slightly!
I love how the colors in the fabrics look together - most of the pieces were from fat quarters I've had lying around - some are from yardage I've purchased in the last few months.
This may count as my first quilt, I've pieced fabric together before for other projects, but this was probably the largest project.
The size is about 2 feet square. 
Everything was put into a jute coffee sack bag that I sewed up and attached a handle to this afternoon. The seam on the left is the original seam on the coffee sack.
Hopefully she and the baby like everything!
He had trimmed all of the fence posts around the vegetable garden the other day...
With the extra material I have been dropping not-so-subtle hints that I want a pergola across the entrance to the garden, above where we plan to put a gate. (Notice the chicken coop in the background of the picture below - it looks so cool - I can't wait until we can finish it up and move my little hens out there!
I have this obsessive idea of growing wisteria on the pergola...one day I want to walk through the entrance and have the lovely scent of wisteria to greet me. Notice in the picture below how he cut the wood to give it an angle - nice architectural appeal!
So today the first part of my wish came to be...and I love it - it was a wonderful suprise to come home and see it. It is awsome having someone around who thinks of me and goes out of his way to make happen so many of the things that bring me joy. Now if only I could get the one little miserable wisteria plant I have to grow so I could root some cuts of it to plant here!
